The Forensic Hospital
Design
Planning for the new Justice Health Forensic Hospital began in 1998 and in July 2006 the NSW Department of Planning approved the funds for the commencement of this major capital works project. The Forensic Hospital was officially opened on 18th February 2009.
The Forensic Hospital is a 135-bed high security mental health facility operated by Justice Health external to the correctional environment. The facilty is located outside the perimeter of the Long Bay Correctional Complex and is the first of its kind in NSW. The hospital operates as a public-private partnership between Justice Health and PPP Solutions.
Justice Health provides the health care services and those aspects of security management that impact patient clinical care. PPP Solutions provides security systems, perimeter security, waste services and maintenance services of all assets.
