Clinical & Nursing Services
Clinical and Nursing Services Directorate is responsible for the planning, coordination and provision of clinical and nursing services to adult patients in custodial settings across NSW. The main service areas within the directorate are: Primary Health, Drug and Alcohol, Population Health, Women’s Health, Aboriginal Health and Adult Clinical Nursing Operations.
Clinical and Nursing Services also facilitates the development of best practice principles for clinical activities to ensure optimal clinical care with minimal risk. The scope of this responsibility extends to correctional facilities, periodic detention centres and the staff that are employed or contracted by Justice Health in the various clinical streams/service areas at these sites.
The majority of health care provided is in the ambulatory setting with reception screening. Clinical and Nursing Services interfaces closely with other directorates to provide health care to meet the needs of our disadvantaged population, with special emphasis on the needs of indigenous people and the culturally diverse.
