Orientation Process

Staff Orientation Program is mandatory and must be completed by all new staff commencing employment with Justice Health NSW.

This applies to staff whether permanently, temporarily or casually employed and to persons who are contracted to work such as Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) and Visiting Dental Officers (VDO), and includes agency staff, people on clinical placement or supervising students’ placements, and students (including work experience students).

The duration of attendance at orientation is dependent on the new staff member’s position within the organisation, generally it is a minimum one full day. Your manager will book you into orientation and confirm duration.

New employees are scheduled to attend orientation on the first day of their employment. Day one of orientation is hosted at the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network Administration Centre in Malabar. Participants are provided with a program on day one as starting times and venue location for each day may vary. All new staff attending orientation need to have complied with the Employment Screening requirements including a Criminal Record Check.

Local induction process

All new staff participates in a Local Workplace Orientation Program, which is specific to their role and their work environment.

Following the first three months of employment employees have the opportunity to complete a survey and provide Justice Health NSW feedback on the onboarding and how they have settled into their new working environment.
